Our Story

In October 2004, Yorick Ser was elected the Co-President of the Entrepreneurs Exchange, a student club at NYU's Stern School of Business. Finding it difficult to manage his club with no dedicated group management system, Yorick started to develop his own Web application which he specifically designed to help him manage his members, mailing lists, and registrations to events. Yorick would send emails to subsets of members and would embed event links to allow members to RSVP. The fairly simply application, named CollegeMailer, was well adopted by his club members. In September 2005, the Office of Student Activities at Stern decided to license the system for all clubs on campus. Shortly after, Yorick launched Novalsys, Inc and was awarded an incubatee pod at the NYU Stern's Incubator.

During the first two years, Yorick worked on CollegeMailer part-time, adding a number of features requested by MBA student leaders at Stern. Then in June 2007, he decided to turn his project into a company. CollegeMailer was renamed CampusGroups, and was launched at other top business schools and undergraduate colleges. The product grew into a powerful community and group management platform catering to the needs of all types of groups on campus.

CampusGroups is now implemented at major Universities in the US and in Europe.
